Surgeons are highly trained specialists, who go through a very long professional formation (more than a decade!) to be able to acquire the knowledge and experience necessary to performs operations and other medical procedures on patients.
Everything starts with four years of undergraduate school, which are not focused on medicine (it would be too soon!), but those who are interested in following the path of becoming surgeons later, should focus on physical sciences, such as anatomy, biology, physiology etc.
The next step is taking the Medical College Admission Test and doing four years of medical school – which must be graduated to be able to move unto the next stage: the residency and fellowship training. The minimum period for surgical residency is five years, followed by getting a medical license.
Most surgeons will also pursue medical degrees, becoming Medical Doctors, or Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, and then continue with post-doctoral training in a chosen specialty. No matter the path finding the best surgical instruments supplier is key to successful surgeries.
