Depending on their destination, surgical instruments can be classified as follows:

Instruments used in most interventions in general surgery, including:

  1. Cutting tools: classic scalpel, electric scalpel, ultrasonic scalpel, amputation knife, straight or curved surgical scissors, with blunt or sharp tip, blade or Gigli type saw, osteotome and chisel
  2. Tools for dissection and exploration: grooved probe, buttoned stylus, "L" forceps, anatomical forceps
  3. Hemostasis tools: Péan clamp, Kocher clamp, Satinski clamp, Dieffenbach clamp (bulldog clamp), Mosquito clamp, Halsted clamp, Guyon clamp
